We have a tendency to scour our floors and walls, but how often is looking up an added bonus? Adding some character to your ceilings can make a room a showstopper, adds depth and uniqueness, and can visually change the perspective of a room. We wanted to explore and share some delightful overhead additions.
Coffered Ceilings
Nothing says elegance and stateliness the way a coffered ceiling does. Not only can it lengthen a room, but you can play with shapes and color to give it added pizzazz. We truly love the waft of aristocracy in a coffered ceiling delving into its ornate capabilities.
Tray Ceilings
If you choose to still go with a classic and elegant ceiling, you can opt for a Tray overhead. Tray ceilings have a recessed or raised center and can still give depth and texture to a room. They are not as labor intensive as a coffered and are great for concealing duct and wiring as well.
Tin Tile Ceilings
We really like this fun trick in creating a sophisticated cover. This is a more cost effective way to spruce up your ceiling and you can play with paint for a more classic look. This is an easy home project you can do over the summer!
Beamed Ceilings
People love this feature especially in older homes. These usually consist of natural wood beams and usually best used in bigger, open spaced rooms. It does tend to demand attention to the eye and can vary with types and colors of woods. A more rustic look for sure!
Wallpapered Ceilings
We love a wallpaper and with so many choices in all different aesthetics, choosing one to gaze at shouldn’t be a problem. From fashionable to artistic, you can create an overhead sensation in a simple and cost effective way.
We carry beautiful wallpaper designs by local artist, Sarah Rowland. Come on by the showroom and see what’s available.
The Vaulted Ceiling
Sometimes called Cathedral ceilings, a vaulted ceiling can add airiness and expansion to your rooms. Typically they extend to where a ceiling would normally stop to the roof. Vaulted ceilings vary in style from groin to barrel to the grandeur of a dome vault. These all create enormous space and are best used in dining and family rooms. Barrel vault will make an entryway sexy and groin vault gives your upper corners some oomph.
No matter what your style or budget is, there’s a ceiling for everyone out there. Do it yourself or hire a local contractor to help you make your space dynamic!
